The Mission

VoteKnox.org's mission is to create more informed voters in Knox County.

This site is designed to be a starting resource to make voting less overwhelming. Collecting offices, candidates, districts, and more into one nonpartisan, easy-to-use resource gives potential voters a simple starting point. 

If this site leads to even just one nonvoter deciding to do their research and cast their ballot, this is all worth it. 

Avoiding bias

One important hurdle I ran into was how to keep the guide truly neutral. Writing the descriptions myself could result in me injecting my own opinions by accident. Instead, I chose to take candidate descriptions straight from their own websites, so everyone is on a level playing field. Additionally, candidates may choose to submit their own description and/or image at any time via the Submit Info page.
