Dr. Richard Briggs was first elected to the Knox County Commission in 2008 and represented District 5 in Knox County. He was re-elected to a second term in 2010. My road to politics began in 2015 when the Tennessee legislature repealed a law that protected doctors and patients from government interference. This resulted in tens of thousands of Tennesseans who live with serious health issues being abandoned by the healthcare system.

For the last ten years, I have been advocating in Nashville and Washington D.C. for patient rights for Tennesseans who suffer, encouraging our state and federal legislators to craft pro-patient legislation and policies. During this time, I have seen how the legislative sausage is made on a wide variety of issues that are important to Tennesseans.
